Meet the Black to the Future team and learn about why they do this work.

“I enjoy the work that I do, which allows me to serve MY community the best way I KNOW how. By empowering and uplifting those around me to walk in their purpose and own their truth!”

“I love doing this work for the simple fact that I love to help people. It's very rewarding and makes me happy to know that I'm that person that people can confide in, can rely on, and can be vulnerable with in their time of need. I want better for my people and for the neighborhood I grew up in, so if I can be that person even in the smallest way to improve the unfortunate circumstances our families have to endure, then that is why I do this work.”

“There's a redemptive power that making a choice has. Just make a choice! Who you're going to be? And how you're going to do it? Just decide!”

Supporting our families and their children by creating a village where we can all grow as a community is why I love being a Student Success Coach.

As a Student Success Coach, I am deeply fulfilled by my passion for supporting underserved communities, especially African American youth. My dedication is to creating an environment where students can discover their strengths, passions, and values. The immense satisfaction that comes from making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals and contributing to the empowerment of the African American community in San Francisco is beyond measure. My work resonates with the timeless phrase by Christian African philosopher J. S. Mbiti, "I am because we are; and since we are, therefore I am."

Serving the community and being a safe space to vent and seek the help they need while feeling safe and taken care of is most important to me in my work. Seeing families succeed and move forward is what keeps me going.
